Hi there,

My name is Alan Beredeski, and I was an EM3.  I went aboard the Liddle in May of 1963, and served aboard her until I was discharged on 13 May 1966.  I remember Hurricane Flora very well, what a ride that was!  I also remember the ride we had from Portsmouth, England, going back to Norfolk across the North Atlantic.  I think that was a rougher ride than the Hurricane.  I remember going to Panama, but I never got to town, we got there the day the Panamanian revolution started, and all we got for about 6 weeks was "beer on the pier". When I went aboard the Liddle, my two brothers were already serving aboard her, Phil was an ET1 and Dick was a YN3.  As you probably heard already, someone figured out the letters and number APD 60 stood for:

"A" for Alan   (18 yrs. old)

"P" for Phil    (22 yrs. old)

"D"for Dick    (20 yrs. old)

Have a nice day.
